A force sensor (also called a load cell or force transducer) measures tension or compression forces and converts them into an electrical signal.
DISA AG Sarnen supplies force sensors from Mark-10 and n-gineric for measurements from 0.5 N to 200 kN. This guide shows the criteria for choosing the right sensor. You will find all sensors in the Force sensor category.
The force sensors at a glance
Four criteria for your choice
1. Measuring range
- FS05: 0.5 N to 2.5 kN
- R03 and R04: 1 N to 500 N
- R01: 250 N to 50 kN
- R02: 500 N to 50 kN
- R07: 250 N to 7.5 kN
- ng-FTS-bi: 100 N to 50 kN
- ng-FTS-di: 1 kN to 200 kN
- FS06: 250 N to 2.5 kN
- R05: up to 2.5 kN
2. Accuracy
For Mark-10, depending on the series:
- ±0.15% of full scale: R01, R03, R05, R07, FS06
- ±0.2%: R04
- ±0.5%: R02
- FS05: ±0.1%
- n-gineric: ng-FTS-bi within 0.5%, ng-FTS-di within 2% of the measuring range
3. Design
- S-beam: R01
- Button sensor for compression: R02
- Miniature sensor: R04
- Fully enclosed: R05
- Ring compression sensor: ng-FTS-di
4. Connection
- R01 to R05 require a separately available Mark-10 indicator
- FS05, FS06 and R07 are designed for the F series universal testing machines
- n-gineric: own digital interface with USB, Ethernet or ng-Link
Plug & Test with Mark-10
With Mark-10 Plug & Test sensors, all configuration and calibration data are stored in the sensor. Sensors and indicators of the Plug & Test family are interchangeable.
Calibration and service in Sarnen
Our calibration laboratory in Sarnen is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (SCS 0083). We calibrate force with an SCS certificate up to 50 kN and with a factory report up to 200 kN.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Mark-10 and n-gineric sensors?
The Mark-10 sensors R01 to R05 require a separately available Mark-10 indicator, FS05, FS06 and R07 are designed for the F series universal testing machines. The n-gineric sensors combine a strain gauge measuring element with an intelligent interface and communicate via USB, Ethernet or ng-Link.
Which sensors are available for very small forces?
FS05 from 0.5 N, and R03 and R04 from 1 N.
Can DISA calibrate the force sensors?
Yes, in our accredited laboratory in Sarnen (SCS 0083): with an SCS certificate up to 50 kN, with a factory report up to 200 kN.
