Cable pull testers from Mark-10

Mark-10 cable pull testers measure the pull-off force of crimped wire and tube connections. DISA supplies the lever-operated WT-205, the motorised WT-205M and WT3-201M and the MR06-200 wire crimp tension sensor.

Pull testing of crimp connections is described in standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, DIN EN 60352-2 and SAE/USCAR-21. We will be happy to clarify with you which standard applies to your test and which device suits it.

Which cable pull tester suits your test?

You can choose between a lever-operated tester, two motorised testers and a sensor for a Mark-10 indicator. Our sales team will be happy to advise you.

What is a cable pull tester?

A cable pull tester measures the pull-off force of crimped wire and tube connections. The Mark-10 testers at DISA are designed for forces up to 1 kN.

Which cable pull testers does DISA offer?

From Mark-10 the WT-205 cable pull tester with ergonomic lever, the motorised WT-205M and WT3-201M cable pull testers and the hand-operated MR06-200 wire crimp tension sensor. For the WT3-201 and WT3-201M there are the WT3002 mounting plate for ring terminals and the unfinished WT3003 mounting plate. More in the cable pull tester guide.

Which tests are possible?

The motorised WT-205M and WT3-201M meet numerous UL, ISO, ASTM, SAE, MIL and other requirements for destructive testing. Non-destructive tests are also possible, for example pulling to a load or holding a load for a set time according to the requirements of UL 486A/B.

Which wire diameters are the testers suitable for?

The WT-205, WT-205M and WT3-201M testers are suitable for most insulation types and for wire diameters up to 6.3 mm. The MR06-200 has a rotating turret with slots of various sizes for wire diameters up to 6.4 mm.

What happens when the sample breaks?

When a sample breaks, the WT-205 automatically outputs and stores the data and zeroes the display. The motorised WT-205M and WT3-201M can automatically reverse, output and store the peak force and zero the display. On the WT3-201M, autostart begins the test automatically once the wire sample is inserted.

How are readings stored and transferred?

The WT-205 has a memory for up to 1000 readings and statistical functions. The WT-205M and WT3-201M offer data storage and statistics for up to 2000 readings with date and time stamp, a profile function for several test setups and MESUR® Lite software with export to Excel. All three transfer data via USB, RS-232, Mitutoyo (Digimatic) or analog outputs.

What does the MR06-200 wire crimp tension sensor require?

The MR06-200 is operated by hand via ergonomic handles and is designed for applications up to 1000 N. It requires a separately available Mark-10 indicator, which records the peak force.

Can DISA calibrate the testers?

Yes. Our calibration laboratory in Sarnen is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 (SCS 0083) and calibrates force with an SCS certificate up to 50 kN. DISA is the European service center of Mark-10. More on the calibration page.

What is the pull-out force of a crimp connection?

The pull-out force is the force at which a conductor is pulled out of the crimped contact until it comes loose or breaks. It shows whether the crimp is strong enough and is the key value in crimp pull testing.
